We are both lazy of nature and we try to make our sites as automatic as possible. We have done some scripts that have saved us lots of time and that can save you lots of time and money as well. Update your running series automatically!
Tired of uploading new parts every single day, delete the old video-file and change the html code... With this script you can prepare your series updates for months or even years in advance! Here´s a short description of how it works:
1. Split your serie in parts and make preview thumbs out of it (or use the extra feature of this script that makes the preview thumbs for you!)
2. Upload all video parts and preview thumbs to your server.
3. Fill in all necessary information in the admin section and add the serie to your database.


That´s it!

So how is the script working?

A crontab makes sure that the script runs for example once every 24 hours (This can of course be set to whatever you like, 5 days a week, every monday or friday etc...)
The script uploads the current part to a server that you set in the script (and at the same time deletes an old part).
A predefiened template (input-file) that contains variables for urls and paths and to video parts, images etc. will write and output-file.
In your html you simply include this output-file and it will update day after day as long as you have series added to your script.

So what kind of variables can I add to my script?

A list of variables are included in the script, but can of course be custom made to suite your demands. Here´s the current list:

  • Current series description
  • Coming series description
  • Current sponsor url
  • Coming sponsor url
  • Url to current part
  • Current part thumb
  • Next part thumb
  • Current part number
  • Total number of parts
  • Todays date
  • Date when next part is online
  • Series preview thumbs (at the moment 4 different preview thumbs, but more can of course be added)

    At the moment we run three series on the main-site of doubleanalmovies.com. Each of these series has it´s own template (though they are very similar on our page) Anyway, you can add as many spots as you want on your site.     Steel thumbs from other sites!
    Are you linking to other sites with thumbs that once showed a preview of a present serie or gallery? A thumb-link that actually shows content that can be found on the site you´re linking to is usually a lot more productive than an old thumb that shows something everyone already seen before, very logic of course, but who has got the time to update all those thumb-links and check what kind of content that are shown on your trades sites all the time?     This script makes it possible to scan your trades sites (as often as you like) and crop images from their galleries or series. The cropped images are then saved on your server and of course overwritten every time the script runs and hence exchanged to a new image that shows the present content on the site you´re trading with.
